Our stock SK-1DI Mic Preamp uses a potentiometer for the gain control. It’s simple, it works, you turn the pot and you control the gain.
But some users may prefer a stepped switch instead of a potentiometer, so they can precisely control the gain. It also makes “recall” easier as you have 12 fixed positions.
So I made a PCB Adapter board so you can use a 12-position selector switch instead of a potentiometer for Gain Control. We’re selling this Switch Adapter Board as an upgrade option for the SK-1DI Mic Preamp kit. The switch is a high-quality (and expensive) Grayhill switch, mounted on a small PCB, along with the required resistors.
Here’s a photo of the Switch Adapter Board, showing how it’s wired to the SK-1DI Mic Preamp in lieu of the potentiometer.
The Switch Adapter Board is mounted upside down. Just tighten the nut on the Grayhill switch.
